Reunion history:

Since 1984 Worden Family Association (WFA) members have enjoyed biennial reunions in locations important to Worden Family history. We gathered to learn about our family's past and its genealogy.

Our last reunion was in Warwick, Rhode Island, October 7th – 10th, 2021

 Some transportation details

Lodging

We are no longer renting the entire Reunion House for lodging and presentations.

We performed a site visit on 15 July and reviewed some of the lodging and facilities options at the venue.  We decided that providing more flexible lodging, rather than committing to renting the entire Reunion House, allows us to fully commit to holding the event. Secondly, we have reserved a dedicated presentation facility that can be used for group functions, such as catered meals, as well.

We have reserved 12 rooms in the Corporal’s Homes.  See details HERE

The number of rooms is limited to the first 12 registrants.  Additional lodging would be available on the facility as needed.

Campsite reservations at Fort Worden:
Reservations for campsites and the beach shelter are handled through Washington State Parks' reservation system, either online or by phone at (888) 226-7688.

Fort Worden Historical State Park – venue details

Fort Worden Historical State Park is located in Port Townsend, Washington,[1] on 433 acres (175 hectares) originally known as Fort Worden, a United States Army Coast Artillery Corps base constructed to protect Puget Sound from invasion by sea.[2] Fort Worden was named after U.S. Navy Rear Admiral John Lorimer Worden, commander of USS Monitor during the famous Battle of Hampton Roads during the American Civil War.[3]
Constructed between 1898 and 1920, Fort Worden was one of the largest Endicott Period (1890-1910) forts to be built and a rare example of a post built according to the precepts of the Endicott Board on land not already occupied by an existing fortification. It was located within sight of a potential (if unlikely) enemy fortification, a British Royal Navy installation on Vancouver Island in Canada.[4] The fort was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976.[5]

Fort Worden State Park and its epic natural setting of Port Townsend—dubbed “the Paris of the Pacific Northwest” by Sunset Magazine—is the kind of destination that stays with one for a lifetime. Originally designed as a military base to protect Puget Sound, Fort Worden has evolved into an iconic and cherished state park and lifelong learning center with Fort Worden Hospitality operating accommodations, venues, restaurants and catering services on site. Fort Worden’s magnificent setting encompasses 434 acres with 12 miles of forested hiking trails, two miles of walkable saltwater beaches and commanding views of the Olympic and Cascade mountains as well as views across the Strait of Juan De Fuca to the San Juan Islands. The Fort features 73 historic buildings with four museums and creative spaces for art and educational programs, yoga, woodworking and more. Eagle-eyed observers will recognize the Fort as the filming location for An Officer And A Gentleman.
